A STORY FROM OUR AGENCY:
Sam had served 5 years in the Nebraska Prison System. While still incarcerated at the work release center, Sam visited Bridges to Hope and received work appropriate clothing. Once released he visited Bridges to Hope a second time and selected some furniture to help set up his new apartment. Sam was extremely appreciative of the assistance he received and decided to become a regular volunteer for Bridges to Hope. In doing so, he helped with our Freed for Life fundraising banquet. The keynote speaker for that year was Shon Hopwood, David City bank robber turned law professor at Georgetown University. Sam was so inspired by meeting someone who was once confined and is now a successful attorney! He knew second chances were possible. Because of the support, encouragement and second chances Sam received from Bridges to Hope, he now has been accepted to UNL School of Law! We ALL make regrettable choices in our lives that may or may not land us behind bars. However, knowing that we ALL deserve second chances and that there are organizations such as Bridges to Hope that assist with those second chances, is what makes our community a better place to live! SECOND CHANCES…IT’S WHAT WE DO!
