A STORY FROM OUR AGENCY:

Major Suhr entered the Air Force service as a graduate of the Air Force ROTC at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2012. He completed Undergraduate Pilot Training as a Distinguished Graduate and then served as a T-6A First AssignmentInstructor Pilot at Laughlin AFB, TX. Following this he applied for and was accepted into the prestigious U-2Sprogram where he served in the 99thReconnaissance squadron as a U-2SMission Pilot. He later transitioned to the 53d TEG, Det 2 as an Operational Test Pilot and U-2S Test Director. This assignment was followed by his attendance at the US Air Force Test Pilot School where he graduated in December of 2021. My experience in Scouting: I joined the Cub Scouts in early elementary school and progressed into Boy Scouts where I achieved Eagle Scout on 17 May 2007.From early on my favorite memories were hanging out with my fellow scout friends. Growing up in Lincoln I had the benefit of knowing the same group of friends all the way from elementary school into College and I think Scouting was a core part of that. Whether it was just meeting up at the church weekly or out camping, the highlight of scouting to me was the social comradery. How Scouting helped me in the USAF: Scouting and the military are a lot a like in many aspects. The formal characteristics of leadership, teamwork and duty to others and yourself are evident but I think there was more to it than that. I think what I learned most from Scouts was just how to get out of my comfort zone. In a world where it was all too easy to just be sedentary physically and mentally, scouting made me get out and see the world in new ways. Without that introduction to “adventure”, I don’t think I would have taken the leap to join the Air Force.
