- $10 a month helps us have a presence in the rotunda to provide expedient answers to questions from lawmakers and provide them with precise research and analysis during the legislative session. ($120)
A STORY FROM OUR AGENCY:
OpenSky leverages our political capital and provides precise and compelling research to work toward a state where no Nebraskan goes without health care. Our team provided an analysis of recent changes to Medicaid for both federal and state policymakers. Medicaid helps low-income Nebraskans access critical health care services in all parts of the state, but particularly in our rural areas, where children are approximately 5 percentage points more likely to be covered by Medicaid and adults are 2.5 percentage points more likely. It also provides a lifeline for providers in health care deserts, as it makes up a significant portion of their revenue. These aren’t just numbers, they are the roughly 170,000 children and 168,000 vulnerable adults who rely on Medicaid for preventive care, lifelong wellness and emergency services. OpenSky has worked with our federal delegation to understand the facts and figures and to highlight the impact of Medicaid cuts on real Nebraskans. At the state level, our work has been focused on adequate funding and program retention, but also reducing cumbersome paperwork requirements that do little to increase efficiency, but have the effect of creating gaps in care for people who need it most.
